I was accidentally thrown into the wonderful world of rabbits when I was given a baby bunny, found in a dog park in Auckland. She was a broken black of an unknown breed, which my, then 5-year-old, fell in love with. Unfortunately, that little 5-year-old accidentally left her business namehutch open after feeding her one morning, before school and we could not catch her again.

It was when I began searching for a replacement pet for the said 5-year-old, that I came across the Standard Rex, since then, I haven't looked back.

It's been a wonderful discovery, learning, development, and heartache-filled journey. But it is an absolute pleasure to be a part of preserving this breed.
