I attended the first show of the season and although I didn't come up trumps and take home all the trophies, I'm pleased with these few 1st place certificates each rabbit placed in their class. Not a bad start for someone who is starting over and basically has to recreate their own line. It's not easy, but it's well worth the effort.
The next show I aim to attend is the North Island National Show in June. So... watch this space.
I've added 2 show bucks to my repertoire of animals to contend with at the shows too. Blackberry Nip, the last broken black of Blackberry's line. He did ok in the Hauaraki-Piako show at the beginning of this month, and shows promise for an under 5-month-old.
And I added his uncle, Zodiak, to the mix too. I didn't show him at this show, but I'd like to see how he does up against his brothers, Baxter (owned by Razzle Dazzle Rabbitry, NZ) and Redemption (owned by Azurite Rabbitry).
Zodiak, Baxter, and Redemption are the last sons of Rayah Asterix.
I was also hoping to flood this blog with little hairless, wrinkly baby bunny pictures, as I had mated both Silk and Cerise to continue developing my blacks. Alas, Cerise didn't take and Silk only had TWO. But... what can ya do? Ya cannot force them to have babies, and lots of them... or can you? Nah, I'm just kidding!
At least Silk's two babies are being well fed and she's doing well.
I will try Cerise again when I put Blanca in kit, which I will attempt to do again soon. Noodle is rearing to go, but Blanca is taking her time getting ready for the commitment of motherhood.
Until next time, ladies and gentlemen, don't forget to check out my sale page as I keep that updated with young ones available. Smile, don't forget to have fun, and stay safe out there.
